    4th June Vs Grainthorpe

FIRST HOME VICTORY ACHIEVED AGAINST UNDEFEATED LEAGUE LEADERS

Keelby midweek team produced their best all round performance to defeat current league leaders Grainthorpe who arrived unbeaten in their previous 4 games. Batting first in a match reduced to 16 overs, Keelby were given a solid base of 45 from 6 overs by openers Jeremy Slater (19) and Adrian Mitchell (26). The positive scoring rate was maintained by Danny Bevis (23n.o ) and Mark Parker (15) as the innings finished with a fighting total of 103 for 4. Notice I have not mentioned the skipper's golden blodger, between you and me I understand he's feeling pretty sore about it. The opening bowlers Michael Hall ( 2 for 15) and Ashley Briggs ( 2 for 18 ) continued the good work with accurate bowling, backed up by some very smart outfielding. Grainthorpe made more of an effort in the second half of their innings aided by 2 or 3 uncharacteristic examples of sloppiness in the field. Danny Bevis had to take over behind the stumps as Rod Chapman sustained a finger injury, Danny did not look out of place in his new role. Pete Briggs came on to steady the ship and going in to the last over Grainthorpe needed 9 to win. Michael Hall produced a very tidy over despite doing ' a Stuart Broad ' by going for an unnecessary run out which gifted an extra run, Grainthorpe's innnings closed on 101 for 5 giving Keelby victory by 2 runs. There were many positive aspects to Keelby's performance which can be taken into the rest of the season
