    Match Report

A much needed 20pts after some below performances. The skipper hesitated after winning the toss and decided to bat first. This decision looked to be a poor one after losing 2 early wickets with only 20 runs on the board. But in form Dan Mawer kept the runs flowing and nursed Jerry Slater through a hesitant start. The drinks interval again proved costly as young Mawer lost his wicket to a poor ball although Dan's 37 set the tone and deserves credit. It was then left to the veterans Jerry Slater and Tony Renney to put Keelby well on top with a 71 run partnership although Tony's speed and agility meant that his younger partner pulled a fetlock and had to have a runner for the rest of the innings. Slater was cruelly run out for 46 whilst Renney was bowled for 32. Keelby finishing on 219 and this may be Keelby 2's best score for years. With Udi Sheikh in the bowling attack, Keelby looked to have a more competent bowling attack and Udi's figures 9 overs, 5 wickets for 24 runs proves the point. Frank Sinatra ( sorry John Indian but he has had just as many comebacks) opened the bowling and his 8 overs cost 30 runs whilst Bruce Roberts and Mike Phillips helped the cause. Scunthorpe eventually toppled on 93. An excellent performance, well done to all.

    Champagne moment:

The home team dressing room soon cleared with 10 cricketers coughing and spluttering when Bruce decided to treat us all to the aromas of his tea and breakfast.
