    Match Report

The weather surprised us with a hot sunny day. We won the toss elected to bowl and the combination of Maddison / Smith set the tone, it was an excellent spell of bowling considering it was the 1st game of the season. Maddison made an early breakthrough but then we had to work hard and as forecast it was an excellent batting track, so wickets were hard to come by. Bruce Roberts and Ashley Briggs did their best but it was not easy and Jim Cowie struggled with his line. That being said, apart from a brief spell in the middle of the Alford innings, we were always in the game, good vocal support and the spirit was as strong as ever. Batting wise, we were excellent. It possibly ranked as one of the best batting performances by the Keelby 2nds in years. Sharp and Briggs junior were always in command, making an 86 run stand in just 17overs. Despite losing our openers in quick succession, the task given to Danny Bevis and Danny Mawer was to see the team through to victory. It was a task they performed and executed superbly well - a 104 run partnership!!! Lets not get carried away it is the first game but the standard has been set.

Champagne moment. Pete Briggs' catch.................Whilst the ball was up in the air, Pete was chastising other fielders for not shouting to claim it was their catch. Pete was the only fielder in a 20 yard radius!
